Record a genuine workout each day, all the way to day 90. - Your movement, your choice: Walk, run, lift, swim or stretch. A genuine recorded workout with active time counts. No minimum duration, distance, pace or heart rate. - Record it as you go: Record on iPhone or bring workouts in through Apple Health. Manually added entries stay in your history but do not count toward a Winter day. - Time for the recording to arrive: Each day has a 48-hour sync window after it closes. The workout must happen during the day itself. - A missed day ends the attempt: If the sync window closes without a confirmed workout, your Winter ends. Completed days stay in your record. Another attempt needs a new pass. - One payment: No subscription or automatic renewal. The App Store shows the price before you pay. Stubborn about coming back. A Winterlamb learns to work with the day in front of them, finding a way to move when the original plan falls apart. Give yourself one Winter. Ninety days to practise keeping going. ## Apparently, a walk needs a rebrand. The outfit. The accessories. Perhaps a content strategy while we’re at it. A short walk still counts. So does the gym session you enjoy. Movement can belong in your day without becoming your whole personality. - 31% of adults: fell short of activity recommendations in 2022, up about five percentage points since 2010. [WHO · Global activity levels](https://www.who.int/news/item/26-06-2024-nearly-1.8-billion-adults-at-risk-of-disease-from-not-doing-enough-physical-activity/) - More than muscle: Regular physical activity supports heart health, sleep and mental wellbeing. [WHO · Benefits of movement](https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/physical-activity) - 90 days of practice: Our commitment gives daily movement a clear beginning and finish. Habit formation varies; there is no universal deadline. [Research · How habits develop](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11641623/) ## FAQ ### What is Winterlamb? Winterlamb is an iPhone app for people working on keeping movement in their lives. Its Winter Pass is a one-time App Store purchase for one attempt at 90 consecutive days, with a genuine recorded workout each day. You choose how you move. Workout tracking is free. Winterlamb is made by Cubeshell LLC. ### Why 90 days? Ninety days gives the commitment a clear beginning, a sustained period of practice and a finish to work toward. Research links consistent repetition with habit development, but the time needed varies widely. Ninety days is the length of a Winter, not a guarantee that a habit becomes permanent. The no-miss rule defines the attempt; a missed day does not erase the effort you have already made. ### Does a short walk really count? Yes, when it is recorded as a genuine workout with active time. There is no minimum duration, distance, pace, heart rate or calorie target. Ten minutes is an example, not a minimum. Manually added entries can stay in your history but do not count toward a Winter day. ### Do I have to train hard every day? No. Walks and gentle recorded sessions count too. You choose the activity and effort. The Winter Pass asks for a genuine recorded workout each day; it does not prescribe a training plan. ### What happens if I miss a day? Your attempt ends once that day’s 48-hour sync window closes without a confirmed workout. The days you completed remain in your record. Free tracking continues. Another attempt requires a new Winter Pass. ### What is the sync window? A workout done during a day has 48 hours after that day closes to sync. This gives the recording time to arrive; it does not give you extra time to do the workout. A day can show as awaiting sync before it is confirmed. ### Do I have to wait until winter? No. A Winter is your 90-day commitment and can begin in any season. Day 1 starts at the next local midnight after the pass is delivered. Your attempt keeps the timezone set at the start for all 90 days. ### Is the Winter Pass a subscription? No. Each pass is a one-time App Store purchase for one 90-day attempt, with no automatic renewal. The App Store shows the price before you pay. ### Do I need an Apple Watch? No. You can record on your iPhone. If you have an Apple Watch or use other fitness apps, Winterlamb can read those recorded workouts from Apple Health. ### How is my progress saved? Free workout tracking keeps your history on your iPhone and uses Apple Health for workout records. A Winter Pass requires an account, which holds your pass, attempt and confirmed days. Routes and raw heart-rate samples stay on your device. ### What does the research say about movement? WHO reports that regular physical activity supports physical and mental health, including heart health, sleep and mental wellbeing. Its 2024 analysis estimated that 31% of adults worldwide fell short of activity recommendations in 2022. A 2026 Cochrane review found that exercise may reduce depressive symptoms, with uncertainty about longer-term effects. This is evidence about exercise, not proof that Winterlamb treats depression. Research also suggests that deliberate commitment structures can help people continue exercising in some settings. Those studies used different arrangements from a Winter Pass. The app is a way to record movement and take on a commitment, not a medical treatment. ## Sources - [van der Weiden et al. · Habit development over three months (2020)](https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/psychology/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2020.00560/full) - [Singh et al. · Systematic review of habit formation (2024)](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11641623/) - [Lally et al. · Habit formation in everyday life (2010)](https://doi.org/10.1002/ejsp.674) - [WHO · Physical activity and health](https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/physical-activity) - [WHO · Global activity levels (2024, reporting 2022 data)](https://www.who.int/news/item/26-06-2024-nearly-1.8-billion-adults-at-risk-of-disease-from-not-doing-enough-physical-activity/) - [Clegg et al. · Cochrane review of exercise for depression (2026)](https://www.cochrane.org/evidence/CD004366_exercise-effective-treating-depression) - [Royer, Stehr and Sydnor · Exercise commitment experiment (2015)](https://www.aeaweb.org/articles?id=10.1257/app.20130327) ## Links - [Winter rules](https://winterlamb.app/rules/v2): the rules in full, with their effective date - [Privacy policy](https://winterlamb.app/privacy) - [Terms](https://winterlamb.app/terms) - [Support](https://winterlamb.app/support) ## Public pages - [Winterlamb — 90-day movement challenge for iPhone](https://winterlamb.app/) - [Privacy policy — Winterlamb](https://winterlamb.app/privacy) - [Winter rules — Winterlamb](https://winterlamb.app/rules/v2) - [Support — Winterlamb](https://winterlamb.app/support) - [Terms — Winterlamb](https://winterlamb.app/terms)
